DIY: No Sew Bows!

This is my very first DIY and I thought, why not do it about something I love to do? CRAFT! I have loved crafting for a large portion of my life and the glue gun has become my new best friend since my sewing machine has decided to move on from this life. Yes. My sewing machine just might be dead! *insert crying emoji*

BUT I really hope some of you can learn from this DIY and have some fun making hair bows for your little ones!
I'll first start by letting you know that ANYONE can do this tutorial. It is super simple and I literally finished it in under 10 minutes. It's so cute and little too! You can always attach a clip on the back instead and change the sizing to make them bigger or smaller. Get creative!

STEP ONE: GATHER YOUR MATERIALS

      - 8x5 piece of fabric
      - 5x2 piece of fabric
      - scissors
      - cutting board
      - hot glue/hot glue gun
      - iron
      - clip or headband material

STEP TWO: CUT BOW PIECES

I use my cutting board to make sure my pieces are super straight, but it won't kill the bow if you just eye ball this.

STEP THREE: FOLD AND IRON PIECES

So take your large piece (the 8x5 one) and fold both hot dog sides in half way. Please disregard the dark brown towel I use for ironing. We have yet to buy an ironing board! Hahaha!

Iron it so it stays nice and folded

STEP FOUR: FOLD IN HALF OPPOSITE WAY

Now fold both hamburger sides in so that they meet each other in the middle. Each side that was folded should come out to be 2 inches long as pictured below.

STEP FIVE: FOLD ACCORDION STYLE

Fold that piece accordion style and hot glue JUST LITTLE DABS to secure it in place. Too much hot glue will make it too stiff. You'll start to see the bow now!

STEP SIX: FOLD SMALLER PIECE AND IRON

Take your smaller piece (the 5x2 one) and also fold this one with the hot dog sides. Same as the larger piece.

STEP SEVEN: HOT GLUE SMALL AND LARGE PIECES TOGETHER

Now hot glue your folded small piece onto the big piece like this

Again, just do little dabs of glue. Now if you are just wanting to do a clip and not a headband then you would just cut the small piece and glue on the clip to the back. Sorry I forgot to take pictures of that, but if you have questions just leave a comment down below.

STEP EIGHT: CUT HEADBAND MATERIAL AND GLUE

For a newborn you will need to cut the headband material at 14 inches. For other sizes click HERE. I do 14 for a newborn because you have to fold some and glue so that will make it shorter in the end.

Then glue the to ends together like this.

STEP NINE: GLUE IT ALL TOGETHER

Easiest part guys. Just glue it all together!

You may need to cut the small piece a little or fold it over like I did on one side. That way it will have a nice finish and not fall apart.

And there ya have it! A cute baby headband for your sweet little one. These are just so easy and you could make 10 a day if you really wanted to. Hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions then please feel free to leave a comment below!

How We Met: Part Dos

I am back! Hahaha I don't know why I love writing this, but it has been so much fun! I've been able to read back in my journal and it makes me laugh how I was so unsure of the future, but now its all so much clearer. Anyway, back to where we left off.

So I started to steady date the guy I went on that date with. Remember? The one I said yes to a date with and cancelled the date with Philip? Ha. Yep. That one! We dated for a few months and well, it just didn't work out. We were on different paths in life and saw things quite differently. If you're seriously considering marrying someone make sure you want to go the same direction in life!

When me and this boyfriend broke up I was so confused. I felt a little helpless in my life and also that in a way it had come crashing down. This was exactly a year ago, isn't that crazy? I became a little overly dramatic (okay, I was super dramatic!) and thought I would never get married. I was working in homes with autistic kids, not going to college, away from family, and alone. I decided then that I needed to move back home to Eagar. That would for sure help me to step back and put my life back together. The plan was to go back in 2 weeks.

Well a few days after this I saw a picture a Facebook.

Philip! I totally forgot about that kid! I instantly pulled out my phone and sent him a text. You don't even know how bad I wish I still had that text! I said something along these lines: "Hey! I just wanted to text you and tell you I am so sorry for the way I have treated you in the past. I hope all is good in your life!" I think I even said something like "I am not texting you to get with you", but I honestly don't remember fully.

He texted me back and later down the road he told me that he was SO mad when I sent that text. Hahaha he thought, "Who does she think she is?" Hahaha! Poor guy. We texted a little and saw each other the next night at our singles ward family home evening. I watched him play soccer afterwards and he would sit by me in between playing. We talked and talked and I also shared with him my bad breakup. Philip was so sweet and nice! After that night we hung out EVERY SINGLE night for about 2 weeks. We went hiking, on walks, talked at the park, anything that allowed us to just talk. We loved it!

Our first picture together

The night I told Philip about my dream was a crazy one. He had been parking his motorcycle at my place because his apartment complex was a bit rough. One night he started walking home, LATE, and I was a worried mother over here, so I gave him a ride home. I don't remember what he was talking about, but I just knew I had to tell him about my dream. We pull into his parking lot, talk some more, and then I say, "Philip. I need to tell you something. Promise you won't freak out?", then he said, "Ok?" This poor guy was so confused. I asked him a million more times to not freak out.

I went on to tell him my dream and that this guy in the dream told me his name was Philip. About how I chose to come to Mesa to find Philip. That when I met him I freaked out because I didn't expect to find him so soon. I told him everything! Then he just sat there. Didn't speak for a while. I thought for sure he was thinking how much of a freak I was. But then he said, "it all makes sense". Turns out, he liked me from the very beginning and knew there was something special here.

A few days later we had another intense conversation about me moving back to Eagar for the fall semester. Philip told me I should do what I felt was right and for some odd reason, moving to Eagar was right. I was scared things would end up not working in the end, but we weren't even dating yet. I moved back and then came to visit the next weekend. We went on a huge group date and had tons of fun.
When he took me back to my old apartment (I was crashing there for the night) we sat at the top of the stairs just talking. The entire night I was DESPERATELY hoping he would kiss me. He had only held my hand during the whole date... After talking for a while Philip asked (and I honestly can't remember exactly how he said it) if I would be mad if he didn't kiss me that night. I was a little disappointed and not wanting to sound crazy I said, "I was actually hoping you wouldn't". WHY DID I SAY THAT? Hahahaha it's still a mystery. Then me, being even more desperate for a kiss, said, "but you wanna know what my first favorite kiss would be?" he then said, "what?". I replied, "it's the kiss that's in all the movies. Where the guy grabs the girls face with both hands and slowly leans in for simple small kisses".

HOLY DESPERATE PEOPLE! I really liked him and I knew he liked me so why not just kiss. Right after I said that, he grabbed my face, leaned in close, and said, "like this?" with his mischievous  little smile and those cute dimples. After attempting for me to go the full 100 (any Hitch fans out there?), Philip finally leaned in and we had our first kiss and the rest is history.

That was on August 8th followed by long distance dating. We switched out weekends. Every other week I would go to Mesa and Philip would come to Eagar. Lots of driving, but TOTALLY worth it!

September 24th is when Philip proposed. I know. We moved pretty fast and it was crazy! He had the sweetest plan that fell through all the way. Haha! He was going to set up a couch with food by Saguaro Lake at sunset, but his truck and his friend Caleb's truck both got stuck which ended in him picking me up at his dad's house 2 hours late. I knew he was going to propose that night and was so sad thinking he was going to wait for another few weeks. We went to eat sushi though and then he got in the car not knowing what he was gong to do. He then remembered that our first time hanging out was on Silly Mountain. He drove there right away and proposed at sunset. It was beautiful and it was the exact ring I wanted!

Trinity Moore took our engagements and you can click here to see her awesome work!

Then lastly, we got married December 30, 2016. Our original date was January 7th so our anniversary would be 1-7-17, but the temple would be closed that day and honestly, I love our anniversary. Plus, we got some awesome tax benefits for getting married before the new year ;)

If there is anything I have learned these past 7 months of being married is that married life ROCKS. Sure there are adjustments to be made, patience to be developed, and love to grow, but coming home to someone every day and being held every night is so much greater than I ever imagined. Philip has many talents that I had not idea about until we were married. He is always serving me (especially right now since I am drugged and dizzy from get a tooth removed) and is spectacular at managing our bills. I love him so much more than I did a year ago when we just started hanging out and I can't wait to see how much more our love for each other will grow in this life!
